Hong Kong Kowloon Water Works.
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27th April No.14089/1904 transmitting to us a despatch from the Officer Administering the Government of Hong Kong relative to the proposals to increase the length of the catchwater for the Kowloon Water Works and to increase the capacity of the storage reservoir.
We communicated the papers to Mr Chadwick and

I enclose for the information of Mr Secretary Lyttelton a copy of the correspondence which has passed. It will be seen that although Mr Chadwick does not raise objection to the extension of the catchwater channel he is doubtful as to the advisability of raising the height of the dam. The latter question however is still under his consideration.
3. We have asked Mr Chadwick to forward his recommendation regarding the dam with the least possible delay, and in the meantime to tell us how soon we may expect it and as soon as we hear from him we will communicate with you further and return the original enclosures to your letter.
